Aliens, also known as the Zetans, are an enemy type that appears in Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4.

Description[]

Aliens appear in all of the HD Fallout games, featuring as an enemy that have the unique Alien Blaster equipped. They are based on the archetypal Gray alien, while their UFO and spacesuits are based off of the retrofuturist chic of the 1950's. Their scientific name, the Zetans, is most likely a reference to the star system Zeta Reticuli. Zeta Reticuli is the supposed homeland of the Gray species, made famous after the Hill Abduction event on September 1961.

Fallout 3[]

Aliens do not feature highly in vanilla Fallout 3, with their only physical appearance being just a dead body beside the crashed UFO, but the Aliens feature prominently in the Mothership Zeta expansion pack. They are known to use Flying Saucers, as well as one manned Scout Ships. One of these ships named Theta crashes in the Capital Wasteland and plays a distress signal.

Fallout: New Vegas[]

Aliens appear in Fallout: New Vegas, but only if the player has the Wild Wasteland trait. North of the Horowitz Farmstead, there is a hovering, damaged Scout Ship on an unreachable promontory. Below, there are two low-level aliens listening to a red-suited Captain. When spotted, they will turn hostile and attack. The player can kill them and loot the Captain for the Alien Blaster.

Fallout 4[]

There is a random event where a Flying Saucer will crash in the Commonwealth. If the player approaches one of these, there will be destroyed trees and a large crater - but they will not be able to loot or interact with the UFO. However, in a nearby cave, there will be a single alien with a crippled leg (presumably from the crash) which will turn aggressive. He can be killed for the Alien Blaster.

Trivia[]

  • In Fallout 3, the scout ship named "Theta" may be a reference to the theology of the Scientologists. EDIT: It's not. Theta is the 8th letter of of Greek Alphabet. Zeta is also a letter of the Greek Alphabet.
